Story

In 1870, the Brockmann-Kiehne house was built in Fredericksburg, Texas with two parlor rooms, kitchen, cellar, ancillary well house and water tank separated by a durch-gang-breezeway.
In 2025, the front porch got a paint job, trees were planted, a stage was built, and two custom Mill Scale smokers - Carmelite and Nina - were lovingly rolled into their new home in the backyard of the “B-K House”, now Junebug’s BBQ, tucked smack dab in front of, and a part of, the Albert Hotel.
Junebug’s is a backyard BBQ joint celebrating food, community, family and friends, founded on award-winning recipes, housemade sides, live music, and a whole lotta heart and soul. The menu at Junebug's is led by Justin Spencer, who also happens to be New Waterloo’s Head of Food & Beverage, a competition barbecue pitmaster, and the namesake - Junebug himself, or simply, Bug. Bug and his team - Ribdiculous Bar-B-Krewe - hold bragging rights as the 2023 Memphis in May World Champions for the best barbecue and have years of sweat, smoke, and sauce to prove it.
Junebug’s is open 11am - til the meat runs out, Wednesday - Sunday, for bbq snobs and new-in-townies alike. Live music? Sometimes. Hot meat? Always. We’ve also got beer – and the Texas sunsets are free.

His secret recipe? 'Build a good fire, season up a beautiful piece of meat, treat it well through the night, and don't mess with it till it's perfect.'
